Most business owners find out they are "invisible" on Google the hard way: a customer mentions they could not find the shop, or a competitor keeps showing up first. Before assuming the worst, run through these checks. Each takes a few minutes.
1. Search your own business name
Type your exact business name into Google. If nothing relevant appears, or a different business with a similar name outranks you, that is the first sign of a Google Business Profile or website problem, not a ranking problem in the usual sense.
2. Check whether your Google Business Profile is verified
Search your business name and look for the map panel on the right. If it says "Own this business?" or does not appear at all, your profile may be unverified or missing. An unverified profile very rarely appears in local ("near me") results.
A Google Business Profile is free, but an unverified or half-filled one is close to useless. Categories, a complete address, phone number and photos matter more than most business owners expect.

3. Search for what you sell, not your business name
Search "[your service] in [your area]" the way a customer would, for example "AC repair in Uppal" rather than your business name. If you do not appear on the first page or in the map pack, that is where local SEO work actually happens.
4. Check if Google can even see your website
Search site:yourdomain.com in Google. If zero results appear, Google may not be crawling or indexing your site at all, which is usually a technical issue (a blocked robots.txt file, a missing sitemap, or a site that is too new to be indexed yet).
5. Check your Google Search Console
If you have Google Search Console set up, the Coverage and Performance reports will show exactly which pages are indexed and which searches you already appear for. If you do not have it set up, that is usually the very first thing worth fixing.
